A survey of about 1,800 recently laid off worker finds many are focusing on the positiv e aspects of beingbetween jobs, with 22 percenrt saying they’ve been able to spene more time with friends and Other responses included fixing up theirf homes, exercising more, volunteering and going back to school. Four percentg say they started their own business aftegetting fired. “They are reconnecting with friendaand family, getting involved in the taking classes and exploringf new career path options that may lead to a greatedr return in the long run,” says CareerBuilder’s Rosemart Haefner.
The bills don’t stop comingv when the paychecks do, and, to make ends 23 percent of those surveyecsay they’re collecting unemployment or taking other financialo aid. Another 16 percent say they’re relying on 12 percent say their spouse or partne r is paying all the bills and 4 percentsay they’rw living on credit.
